What is Run for Music?
Run For Music is a fundraising and advocacy project of the Alberta Choral Federation. Participants will take part in a 5 km run, a 5km walk, or a 10 km run. Unique in its design, while advocating for the importance of choral music, funds raised through Run For Music pledges are split between Edmonton-and-area choirs and the Alberta Choral Federation.
How It Works
Each Run For Music participant will
collect pledges in support of choirs and
choral music in Alberta. When registering,
participants will indicate an affiliate choir/
choral organization. Fifty percent of that
participant’s pledges will go directly to
that choir/choral organization and the
remaining 50% will support ACF programs
and services including the Alberta Honour
Choirs, Choralfest, the Alberta Choral
Workshop Series, and the ACF Choral
Library.
The minimum fundraising requirement is $50 for youth participants and $100 for participants ages 16 and older. The fundraising target for youth participants is $150; the target for participants ages 16 and older is $250. Participants who reach or surpass their fundraising target will be refunded their registration fee.
In cases where participants surpass their
fundraising target by $100 or more, the
choir/choral organization with which they
are affiliated will receive 60% of their total
pledges (an extra 10%). This is excellent
incentive for choristers fundraising for a
tour or special choir event!
Prizes will be awarded to the top two
fundraisers in each category (youth and
standard).
Collecting Pledges
Pledges will be collected online. Each
participant will receive their own page
on the Running Room website through
which pledges can be collected. The ACF
will provide electronic tools including a
Request For Sponsorship message, an
e-mail signature, and a Facebook status
update. All pledges will be made online.
Running for Music
What would a run/walk in support of choral music be without some music along the way? As you make your way through the course you will hear singers of all ages performing all sorts of music! At the end of the run/walk all participants will gather for the Run For Music brunch at the Royal Glenora Club where some great music will be performed!
Getting Involved
You are invited to take part as a runner or walker in Run For Music. However, Run For Music also offers a host of volunteer opportunities! If you are interested in supporting Run For Music in a volunteer capacity, you can register online as a volunteer or contact the Alberta Choral Federation (780-488-7464).
