The Concordia School of Music and its Chaplain’s Department present their annual hymn festival My Song is Love Unknown: A Journey from Epiphany to Lent at Holy Trinity Anglican Church (10037-84th Avenue, Edmonton) on Sunday, January 29 at 3:00 p.m. Concordia Concert Choir and the Chancel Choir of Holy Trinity will be led by Dr. John Hooper and Dr. John Brough, with narration by the Reverend Lorne Manweiler. The audience will be invited to participate in the singing of several hymns, both old and new. A free-will offering will be collected during the festival in support of the summer 2012 Worship and Music Symposium which will take place at Concordia University College of Alberta.

Edmonton Metropolitan Chorus | Celtic Connections

The chorus presents the music of Ireland, Scotland
, Wales, Isle of Man, Cornwall, Brittany, & Canada. Traditional songs such as Loch Lomond & The Ash Grove will be performed alongside others, such as the well-known ballad Danny Boy, plus Fare Thee Well Love & We Rise Again – the latter two famously recorded by Canada’s highly regarded folk music group The Rankin Family. The 120-member chorus is fortunate to be working with talented vocal coaches who will be performing some of the solos in this exciting show: Janet Smith (soprano), Marion McFall (alto), Caleb Harder Nelson (tenor) & Kyle Carter (bass). The chorus is accompanied by the vibrant pianist Remi Do. Keri Lynn Zwicker (Celtic harp), Lizzy Hoyt (violin), Jeff Saragher (cello), & Nathan McCavana (bodhrán) form the Celtic Players, who will be adding musical accompaniment (instrumentally & vocally) throughout the show.

Edmonton Columbian Choirs | Music of the Heart - Dinner and Auction
St. Basil’s Cultural Centre (10819 71 Avenue), EDMONTON
The evening will consist of dinner, silent and live auction, and performances by the Chanteuses
Ladies’ Choir under the direction of Heather Bedford-Clooney.
The Church, located on 96 Street, provides shelter, opportunities, spiritual guidance and
education to people in the community. It has a number of programs that give aid to troubled
youth and adults and help to promote a healthy, addiction-free lifestyle. The Choirs, currently
in their 47th Season, provide quality music education and performance opportunities for children
and adults of all religious affiliations. Although the cost of joining the choirs is very reasonable,
we sponsor anyone who cannot meet the financial commitment.

Erik Westberg is an internationally recognized and much sought after choral conductor. He has won many awards including Choral Conductor of the Year by the Federation of Swedish Choral Associations. Erik was the founder of the project Choral Singing for peace and Justice; during the millennium celebrations, 8,000 choristers in 56 countries were involved in the project, which was seen and heard by the world's greatest television audience for choirs ever. Westberg, who is known for his creative approach to new music, will introduce some brand new choral repertoire to Edmonton.
