Kōrero is the Maori word for “Stories,” the name we traditionally give to our February showcase concert. This year we feature Maori and Polynesian music, with special guests Karen Grylls (University of Auckland and New Zealand Youth Choir) and Elise Bradley (Toronto Children’s Choir). Featuring Kokopelli and Òran, with spotlight appearances by Kikimasu (2 p.m.) and Shumayela (7 p.m.).

Edmonton Metropolitan Chorus and Orchestra | The Peacemakers by Karl Jenkins

A series of events focusing on PEACE, culminating in the Canadian premiere of “The Peacemakers” by renowned New-Age composer Karl Jenkins. 120+ voices with full orchestra - augmented by an exciting array of percussion and multi-ethnic instruments.

Spiritus Chamber Choir | Mid-Winter Harmonies II

The Augustana Choir, Sangkor, and Mannskor | Carmina in Camrose!
Jeanne and Peter Lougheed Performing Arts Centre ( 4501 50th Street), CAMROSE
The Augustana Choir, Sangkor, and Mannskor join forces with the Camrose Camerata and the Edmonton Youth Choir to present the grand spectacle that is Carl Orff's "Carmina Burana"--an epic choral work that is at once primitive, medieval and modern. Featured soloists from across Alberta include Professor Kathleen Corcoran, Timothy Shantz, and Roderick Bryce accompanied by the Orion Percussion Ensemble and pianists, Dr. Roger Admiral and Dr. Leanne Regehr, under the baton of award-winning conductor, Dr. John Wiebe. Concert tickets and a limited number of dinner- concert tickets [Stockmen's Chophouse] are available through the Lougheed Centre Box Office. For the dinner-concert tickets, dinner at Stockmen’s is at 5:30 pm and table reservations must be made at Stockmen’s before February 27th. After that date, dinner-concert tickets will cease to be sold.

Grande Prairie Boys Choir | Celtic and Commercials!  The GPBC Spring Show
Christian Fellowship Assembly (11449 92 Street), GRADE PRAIRIE

All levels of the choir will present a “Lawrence Welk” type variety show, complete with commercials!  Come and listen to some familiar and not so familiar music from the British Isles and laugh with us as we watch the boys unique acting abilities showcased in a variety of commercials.  This will truly be a unique, entertaining show.

The Augustana Choir, Sangkor, Mannskor & A Joyful Noise
The Augustana Chapel ( 4901 46 Avenue), CAMROSE
Founded ten years ago by Swedish soprano and voice teacher Eva Bostrand, A Joyful Noise choir welcomes singers of all backgrounds and musical experience. The choir sings an eclectic mix of repertoire from Bach to the Beatles, and learns songs in a variety of languages. This year, for the first time, the choir is travelling outside its home province in Canada and launching an international tour to Iceland.

Pro Coro Canada Consort | Via Crucis
The Augustana Chapel ( 4901 46 Avenue), CAMROSE
The eight voices of Pro Coro Consort perform music for Lent, featuring Via Crucis by Franz Liszt. Fourteen stations of the cross are a traditional depiction of the Passion of Christ, starting with his condemnation to death and ending with his body being laid in the tomb. We invite you to share in this intimate interlude on the threshold of spring.

Greenwood Singers | The Many Moods of Christmas
All Saints’ Anglican Cathedral (10035 – 103 Street), EDMONTON

Each spring since 1981, Greenwood Singers has presented a program of choral music from Renaissance to Broadway.  The theme of the 2015 spring concert is Pastorale:  Music Inspired by Life in the Countryside.  The program will open with Italian and English pastoral madrigals extolling the beauty of life in the country and Zigeunerlieder, (Gypsy Songs) Op. 103 by Johannes Brahms with pianist Helen Stuart.  Ms. Stuart will also accompany the choir in Randall Thompson’s Frostiana (Seven Country Songs) on poems by Robert Frost.   The program will conclude with choral selections from the landmark Rodgers and Hammerstein musical, Oklahoma.

Kokopelli’s younger choirs—Kikimasu, Shumayela, and Tamariki—get an annual chance to shine at their own concert. This year’s show, with a time-­‐travel theme, features special guests McKernan Jr. High Choir and the Semitones (a new youth choir from Brail Tones Music Society).

The Augustana Choir | Shall I Compare Thee…
Join our chamber choir, The Augustana Choir, for a concert of music inspired by the poetry of the "Bard of Avon". This concert will explore Shakespeare's texts through the music of composers from around the world, from classical, to jazz, to just plain fun.

Grande Prairie Boys Choir | Symphony and Singing in the City
People's Church (11850 108 Street), GRADE PRAIRIE

Based on the sold out and highly successful concert, Symphony and Singing in the Park commemorating GP’s 100th anniversary, we will conclude our season with an orchestra and choral extravaganza.  In addition to the choir’s repertoire the symphony orchestra, consisting of local and professional players from Edmonton, will perform movie soundtracks, passionate solos, and accompany the choir on select pieces.
