Grande Prairie Boys Choir | Celtic and Commercials!  The GPBC Spring Show

All levels of the choir will present a “Lawrence Welk” type variety show, complete with commercials!  Come and listen to some familiar and not so familiar music from the British Isles and laugh with us as we watch the boys unique acting abilities showcased in a variety of commercials.  This will truly be a unique, entertaining show.

The Augustana Choir, Sangkor, Mannskor & A Joyful Noise
The Augustana Chapel (4901 46 Avenue), CAMROSE
Founded ten years ago by Swedish soprano and voice teacher Eva Bostrand, A Joyful Noise choir welcomes singers of all backgrounds and musical experience. The choir sings an eclectic mix of repertoire from Bach to the Beatles, and learns songs in a variety of languages. This year, for the first time, the choir is travelling outside its home province in Canada and launching an international tour to Iceland.

Accord Ensemble | Where the Heart is

Join us for this vibrant evening of slam poetry and music. Four local poets, Liam Coady, Megan Dart, Ahmed "Knowmadic" Ali, and Shima Aisha Robinson, will present new works celebrating the idea of home. Mingling with the poetry will be music ranging from spirituals to pop, performed by Accord Ensemble, a young adult chamber choir under the direction of Irene Apanovitch.

The last concert of the Calgary Bach Society’s 2014/15 season willpresent the chorus, orchestra, andvocal soloists ina programme that will feature J.S. Bach’s "Cantata No.4", Britten’s “Rejoice in the Lamb”, and Handel’s “The Lord is My Light”. This concertwill again be in support of the Calgary Food Bank. The eight voices of Pro Coro Consort perform music for Lent, featuring Via Crucis by Franz Liszt. Fourteen stations of the cross are a traditional depiction of the Passion of Christ, starting with his condemnation to death and ending with his body being laid in the tomb. We invite you to share in this intimate interlude on the threshold of spring.

Greenwood Singers | Pastorale: Music Inspired by Life in the Countryside
All Saints’ Anglican Cathedral (10035 – 103 Street), EDMONTON

Each spring since 1981, Greenwood Singers has presented a program of choral music from Renaissance to Broadway.  The theme of the 2015 spring concert is Pastorale:  Music Inspired by Life in the Countryside.  The program will open with Italian and English pastoral madrigals extolling the beauty of life in the country and Zigeunerlieder, (Gypsy Songs) Op. 103 by Johannes Brahms with pianist Helen Stuart.  Ms. Stuart will also accompany the choir in Randall Thompson’s Frostiana (Seven Country Songs) on poems by Robert Frost.   The program will conclude with choral selections from the landmark Rodgers and Hammerstein musical, Oklahoma.

Bella Voce Women's Choir of Concordia | The Pulse of Affliction and Healing
Concordia Seminary Chapel (7040 Ada Blvd), EDMONTON

For their annual spring concert, Bella Voce will be presenting pieces that soothe and restore. This year’s guests will also present a work along those lines, a poet’s writing process. Through A Beautiful Deception, her collection of poems based on health and the works of Chopin, Debussy and the Schumanns, Melissa Lacroix will invite us into her thoughts and her verses, with the help of her muses, Mireille Rijavec, mezzo-soprano, and Dessislava Gavrailova, piano.

Join our chamber choir, The Augustana Choir, for a concert of music inspired by the poetry of the "Bard of Avon". This concert will explore Shakespeare's texts through the music of composers from around the world, from classical, to jazz, to just plain fun.

Bow Valley Chorus | Requiem by Karl Jenkins

This 2005 chart topping classical work by Karl Jenkins, displays the composers flairforproducinginteresting, excitingand somewhatnon-traditional choral works (in the words of the composer he has included, "a hip-hop rhythm in the Dies Irae!"). His use of Japanese haiku poemsjuxtaposed withtraditional Latin texts, creates ahaunting and etherealeffect. Jenkins takes us on a delicious musical journey, filled with beautiful melodies, meditative interludes and rhythms to set one's heart beating! For chorus, orchestra and soloists. Conducted by Con Spirito Award Winner, John Goulart and featuring soprano soloist, Karen J Minish and mezzo soloist, Courtney V. Murias.

Grande Prairie Boys Choir | Symphony and Singing in the City

Based on the sold out and highly successful concert, Symphony and Singing in the Park commemorating GP’s 100th anniversary, we will conclude our season with an orchestra and choral extravaganza.  In addition to the choir’s repertoire the symphony orchestra, consisting of local and professional players from Edmonton, will perform movie soundtracks, passionate solos, and accompany the choir on select pieces.
