Bella Voce Women's Choir of Concordia | The Pulse of Affliction and Healing
Concordia Seminary Chapel (7040 Ada Blvd), EDMONTON

For their annual spring concert, Bella Voce will be presenting pieces that soothe and restore. This year’s guests will also present a work along those lines, a poet’s writing process. Through A Beautiful Deception, her collection of poems based on health and the works of Chopin, Debussy and the Schumanns, Melissa Lacroix will invite us into her thoughts and her verses, with the help of her muses, Mireille Rijavec, mezzo-soprano, and Dessislava Gavrailova, piano.

Kokopelli Choir Association | Echoes

Kokopelli’s younger choirs—Kikimasu, Shumayela, and Tamariki—get an annual chance to shine at their own concert. This year’s show, with a time-­‐travel theme, features special guests McKernan Jr. High Choir and the Semitones (a new youth choir from Brail Tones Music Society).

The Augustana Choir | Shall I Compare Thee…
Join our chamber choir, The Augustana Choir, for a concert of music inspired by the poetry of the "Bard of Avon". This concert will explore Shakespeare's texts through the music of composers from around the world, from classical, to jazz, to just plain fun.

Calgary Renaissance Singers and Players | The Spirit of the Renaissance, Part 2
St. Stephen’s Anglican Church (1121-14 Ave SW), CALGARY

This concert, on the theme of "life and death", will feature the 15th century Everyman Play, as abridged by Lorna Rowsell-Petti. Between scens of the play, the choir will perform works by Medieval and Renaissance composers such as Guillaume de Machaut, John Sheppard, and William Byrd, as well as music that embodies the spirit of the Renaissance and has been written within the last fifty years by the likes David L. MacIntyre, Imant Raminsh, and Arvo Pärt.

Calgary Boys’ Choir | Alive!

This concert will feature several new Canadian works including Four Grassi Lakes Seasons by Calgary composer Allan Gordon Bell and Alive! – a new work written for the choirby Paul Grindlay. The program will also include their famous Tyrannosaurus Rex, the Canadianclassic, Land of the Silver Birch, and more. This concert will also includes aCDlaunchand a silent auction.

More than Magnificat | Excentrica Women’s Chamber Chorus
All Saints’ Anglican Cathedral (10035 103 Street), EDMONTON

We are proud to announce our 14th annual  Spring concert at All Saints’ Anglican Cathedral on Saturday, May 2, at 7:30 p.m. The concert is conducted by Barbara Sadler Wells and accompanied on piano by Jeremy Spurgeon and double bass by Josh McHan. Our chorus is known for singing seriously beautiful music without taking ourselves too seriously, and our goal is to inspire, delight, and entertain our audiences. This year’s concert, “More than Magnificat” features Lana Walter’s Magnificat for six-part a capella women’s chorus, and includes sacred and secular music from Renaissance to Folk and Boogie.  Sublime solos, sparkling commentary, and a little “campfire” sing-along  round out the evening. Don’t miss the fun!

Bow Valley Chorus | Requiem by Karl Jenkins

This 2005 chart topping classical work by Karl Jenkins, displays the composers flairforproducinginteresting, excitingand somewhatnon-traditional choral works (in the words of the composer he has included, "a hip-hop rhythm in the Dies Irae!"). His use of Japanese haiku poemsjuxtaposed withtraditional Latin texts, creates ahaunting and etherealeffect. Jenkins takes us on a delicious musical journey, filled with beautiful melodies, meditative interludes and rhythms to set one's heart beating! For chorus, orchestra and soloists. Conducted by Con Spirito Award Winner, John Goulart and featuring soprano soloist, Karen J Minish and mezzo soloist, Courtney V. Murias.

Grande Prairie Boys Choir | Symphony and Singing in the City

Based on the sold out and highly successful concert, Symphony and Singing in the Park commemorating GP’s 100th anniversary, we will conclude our season with an orchestra and choral extravaganza.  In addition to the choir’s repertoire the symphony orchestra, consisting of local and professional players from Edmonton, will perform movie soundtracks, passionate solos, and accompany the choir on select pieces.
