Swedish conductor Ragnar Bohlin electrified Edmonton audiences with his presentation of Messiah in 2014. He returns, accompanied by four talented Canadian soloists, for the ESO’s yearly performance of one of the greatest works of music and praise ever written. A holiday “must see” for any music lover. IMPORTANT NOTE: Pro Coro Canada and the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra are presenting two different versions of Handel's Messiah this year. On Friday, December 9, and Saturday, December 10, there will be a traditional performance of the work. On Sunday, December 11, a shortened version, featuring the best-known arias and choruses, will be presented.

Concordia’s community ensembles trace the shape of the Advent/Christmas season, from darkness to light, from the ache of longing to the joy of fulfillment in the birth of the Christ Child. Choral, handbell, and congregational voices weave through a program that features traditional French and German carols alongside contemporary Canadian pieces, including a new work, centered around four beloved carols, that has been written for handbells by Jubiloso ringer and prize-winning composer Betty Radford.

Calgary’s professional vocal ensemble,VoiceScapes is delighted to present their 15th annual Sing Along Messiah concert at the beautiful Knox United Church in downtown Calgary. Sing Along Messiah is a performance where the audience is invited to sing along in the choruses while talented young singers do the solos. This year’s Sing Along Messiah will feature VoiceScapes and eleven up-and-coming vocal soloists from across Alberta, all led by conductor Claude Lapalme. VoiceScapes is a professional music collective created in 2000 by two couples: Julie Harris & Jerald Fast, and Christina Jahn & Paul Grindlay. Each singer brings a broad range of performing experience: from medieval groups to opera companies, from solo to choral work, spanning four continents.
