Musical highlights will include O Saya(fromthe movie Slumdog Millionaire), Keith Hampton’s barn-burner gospel hit Praise His Holy Name, a brand new composition by Calgary composer Damian Jordan called Child of my Heart, and other songs of peace and hope.

The Calgary Youth Orchestra(CYO), Cum Vino Cantus, and Mount Royal Choirs will perform Toronto composer Christos Hatzis’s Sepulcher of Life with special guest vocalists Michele Minke and Chenelle Roberts. This dramatic piece blends the musical traditions of the Middle East and Greek Orthodox sacred music with western classical music. The CYO will also feature winners of the 2016 Frank Simpson Concerto Competition.18-year-old Solina Lee (Elgar’s Cello Concerto, 4th movement) and16-year-old Yan L (Sibelius Violin Concerto, 1st movement).

Join the Calgary Multicultural Choiras they perform Missa Gaia (Earth Mass) by seven-time Grammy winner Paul Winter. Missa Gaia features dynamic rhythms from African, Brazilian, and American gospel traditions with the voices of wolf, whale, and harp seals. The concert also features other works related to the peace. Special guests include singer/songwriter Phyllis Wheaton, saxophonist Gerry Herbert, St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church Choir, a 10-piece orchestra, and dancers.
