CONDUCTING APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM

An opportunity to work with AYC guest conductor, Maria Guinand, and the Alberta Youth Choir will be made available to an emerging Alberta choral conductor through the AYC Conducting Apprenticeship Program. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to lead an AYC regional rehearsal on Saturday, 24 October 2009, to rehearse with the Alberta Youth Choir at Camp Evergreen, and to conduct one piece in the AYC concert on Saturday, 31 October 2009, in conjunction with Music Conference Alberta.  The AYC Apprentice Conductor will also receive a private conducting lesson with Ms. Guinand.

Application requirements:

Meals and accommodation will be covered by the Alberta Choral Federation; transportation is the responsibility of the Apprentice Conductor.

AYC SECTION LEADER OPPORTUNITIES


The opportunity to work with guest conductor, Maria Guinand, and the Alberta Youth Choir will be made available to four Alberta undergraduate/graduate conducting students. AYC section leaders will be given the opportunity to lead/assist with a regional rehearsal, to lead sectional rehearsals at camp, and to coordinate their section in rehearsals.  Applicants should have completed at least one university conducting class and possess a strong background in choral music.

To apply, candidates must complete AYC Section Leader Application Form. In addition, a resumé outlining their choral and leadership experience and one letter of reference are also required.

Section leaders will be offered a 50% reduction in the AYC fee (which includes all meals, accommodation, and transportation from camp to Red Deer).
